• Styles, shapes, sizes and types of tiles vary widely.

  • Generally, tiles are made of: Ceramic, Porcelain, Vinyl,Glass or Natural Stones such as Slate or Travertine.

  • Ceramic, Porcelain and Vinyl tiles are usually cheaper than other types. Ceramic and Porcelain are appropriate for bathrooms, back splashes and floors.

  • Glass mosaics are generally used for back splashes or as accent tiles in bathrooms and showers.

  • Natural stone tiles are good as accents or flooring. Some types can even be used in showers. Please note: generally, they will need to be sealed and possibly resealed over time.

  • Tile grouts come in many types and colors. In essence, the two main types are Sanded and Unsanded. Sanded is used more universally on floors and walls, whereas Unsanded is intended for walls, glass mosaic tiles and other specialty tiles.

  • Tile costs vary a great deal based on material, thickness, size, style and so on. The cheapest tiles are usually smaller, thinner ceramic tiles in more common colors such as white or almond. Using these tiles in conjunction with fewer, more expensive accent tiles is a good cost-cutting measure.

  • Grout color is one of the best ways to add a splash of distinction. There really is no right or wrong combination of light or dark. Darker colors tend to wear better on a floor for obvious reasons.

  • RR installs Tile, Hardwood, Vinyl Plank, Laminate and Vinyl Sheets.

  • Hardwood flooring is appropriate for living spaces, bedrooms, kitchens, some baths, hallways and entry ways.

  • Vinyl Plank is usually waterproof, thus appropriate for kitchens, baths, basements, laundry rooms, living space and hallways.

  • Laminate floor is generally not waterproof. Thus, appropriate for living spaces and hallways only.

  • Vinyl sheet is good for kitchens, laundry rooms, baths and basements.

  • All types require a well-prepped sub-floor. In some cases, this may require the installation of a new plywood or concrete backer sub floor.
